The Erdmann Institute

The Erdmann Institute serves to expand the traditional concept of enrollment management by bringing together independent school admission professionals and colleagues to examine ways to strengthen enrollment and enhance the overall promotion of their schools. Founded on the principals of inclusivity and collaboration, The Erdmann Institute seeks to grow the field of admission by providing a non-competitive and supportive environment focused on problem solving and strategic planning.

Why The Erdmann Institute?

The Erdmann Institute was created to fill a noticeable void in professional development opportunities for mid-career and director level independent school enrollment managers. Inspired by the work of David Erdmann, former Dean of Admission and Enrollment at Rollins College and long-time friend to independent schools, The Erdmann Institute is designed with the goal of advancing knowledge, skill, leadership, and community among admission professionals. The Erdmann Institute strives to be at the forefront of the field of independent school admission while maintaining an engaging and collaborative environment for school professionals from across the United States and Canada.

The program offerings are focused on creating opportunities for deep level conversations and shared expertise.

  • The original Erdmann Institute for Enrollment Leadership was constructed for mid-level to senior-level independent school enrollment professionals. It spans four days, combines interactive workshops, collective discussions, and small group work with ample opportunities for thoughtful conversations and collaboration. This program is in partnership with The Enrollment Management Association (EMA) and The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS).

  • The new Erdmann Institute for Financial Leadership is a three day program that begins at the conclusion of the Erdmann Institute for Enrollment Leadership and is designed for experienced independent school financial aid managers. Programming includes a combination of speakers on pre-arranged topics and breakout sessions allowing for interactive group activities and sharing of experiences and best practices that are most important to participants.

  • The Future Leaders program is a collaboration between The Erdmann Institute and The Enrollment Management Association. It is designed for experienced non-directors that are considering leadership roles in independent school enrollment offices. It is a three night institute focused on knowledge development, industry trend watching, career mapping, and peer learning and support. Each participant will be assigned to a 10-person cohort group led by an experienced enrollment manager.

  • Erdmann Audits are personalized visits by a team of experienced Erdmann staff to individual admission offices at day and boarding schools across the United States and Canada.

Workshop leaders at all residential programs, which vary each year, may include current heads of school, deans of enrollment from higher education, experts in independent school financial aid, or industry professionals that have much to add to the enrollment conversation.
